Abstract:

In this paper a correlation between ⁷D_j states of Eu+ and the atomic transitions system z¹⁰D_j —a¹⁰D⁰_j in a gas discharge plasma has been revealed by the method of selective perturbation of the Eu+ ⁷D⁰_j states populations. The mechanism of creating inversion in He-Eu+ laser is proposed. The main feature of this mechanism is a relaxation of the Eu+ ⁷D⁰_j metastables in the process of electron capture by producing the auto- ionization states of europium.
