The utility of holographic methods for studying explosive vaporization of water aerosol by nanosecond optical pulses is discussed. New experimental evidence of laser-induced fragmentation of weakly absorbing droplets and the resulting after-effects are reported. The obtained data on fragmentation debris microstructure and dispersal pattern, air breakdown shape etc. are essential for solving problems of light transmission through aerosol media.
